The next Superman movie will be a complete reboot that casts an entirely new actor as the Man Of Steel, a new report claims.

We'd heard rumblings for a while that the new Superman - produced by JJ Abrams and written by Ta-Nehisi Coates - was to be a new take on the character that's entirely separated from Henry Cavill and Zack Snyder's incarnation. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has, erm, reported that Warner Bros. are "committed" to finding a Black director to helm the movie, and a Black actor to take over the role.

Take a look at this awesome Superman-inspired game below!

DC and Warner Bros. are reportedly considering some seriously impressive names to direct, too. Steven Caple Jr (Creed II), Regina King (One Night in Miami), Shaka King (Judas and the Black Messiah), and J.D. Dillard (Utopia, The Twilight Zone), are a few of the incredible directors in the running right now.

JJ Abrams is an acclaimed and successful director too, of course, but THR's sources believe it would be "tone-deaf" for the Rise Of Skywalker director to tell this particular story.

There's no news on who might actually play Superman yet, but Michael B. Jordan recently shot down rumours that he had been asked. "I'm flattered that people have me in that conversation," he explained in a recent interview. "It's definitely a compliment, but I'm just watching on this one." Might I suggest Lakeith Stanfield, Warner Bros.?

As far as the plot goes, it sounds like we're once again headed for a Superman origin story. You know the drill: Kal-El arrives on Earth from the dying planet of Krypton and uses his God-like powers to become a superhero. One thing I would say is that writer Coates is responsible for some killer runs on the Black Panther and Captain America books, so if anyone can bring a twist to the most well-known origin story of all, it's this guy.

It'll certainly be fascinating to watch this project develop, and to see a Black Superman on the big screen for the first time.
