Two Fall Guys players struck up an unlikely friendship in the battle royale, and the sweetness of it may exceed your recommended daily intake of sugar.
The colourful and chaotic battle royale cites shows like Takeshi's Castle and It's A Knockout as its inspirations. The players, represented as blobby little bodies, race, chase, and flail about over the course of a number of matches. Though it may look cute, the competition is deadly, and it's every bean for themselves out there (even on the team games, in some cases). However, these two players spontaneously cast their rivalry aside and buddied up, showing that the real crown is the friends we make along the way.
The compilation of clips, set to Married Life from Disney Pixar's Up, begins at the end of Slime Climb. Perhaps the adrenaline coursing through these two players' veins, having escaped the slime and skittered over the obstacles, made them realise that there are more important things in life than crossing the finish line first. They stand next to each other, and emote with "Cake Clap". Timing it perfectly, it looks like the two players are playing patty cake.
Bemused, a few of the other competitors watch with curiosity, before remembering that the crown is all there is and ever will be, disappearing over the finish line. Rather poetically, there is another player who clamps their little arms around another player, and pushes them into the slime before running away and qualifying. These two instances, patty cake and remorseless assassination, occurring side by side, illustrates the two types of Fall Guys player far more effectively than an anthropology lesson ever could.
With our two pals, one of these Fall Guys players grabs the other, and then pushes them over the line so that they both qualify in Slime Climb. The video then transitions to a game of Fall Ball, where the two players are on opposing teams. In this cutthroat competition, you would expect each and every Fall Guy to be chasing the glory of body-slamming the ball into the back of the net. Yet, nay. These two resume their game of patty cake, making the most of the time they have together before fate ultimately splits them apart.
In a shocking turn of events, the yellow team actually emerges victorious. The blue player falls away from the game, and so, their peaceful friendship shone brightly but briefly in this battle royale. "I'm not going to say I cried. But I'm also not going to say I didn't. The music. The embrace. It was just too much," said icannotfeelmyface on Reddit.
Fall Guys Season 2 is live today, and with it, arrives new levels, new costumes, and a new battle pass. Will more players be inspired by this exchange, and resist the all-consuming quest for a crown? I hope so. Because then I can win while they're distracted.
