We love mods here at GAMINGbible, I don't know if you can tell. We're always really impressed with the way that some clever players feel inspired by the games they've enjoyed or loved and gone above and beyond to add to them. It's a great way to further your own enjoyment of a gaming world, or improve the experience for others and in today's example, a two-person team has made an incredible mod for Dark Souls 3.

The Dark Souls games from FromSoftware continue to have an incredible hold on game design today. The bosses and explorable environments are some of the best ever made, and of course, that means fans are going to be inspired to give some of these elements their own twist. PapaAppa and Kez, two modders, have now come out with Call of the Abyss, a mod that adds hundreds of new items to Dark Souls 3 as well as changing up its bosses.

Here are some of our favourite Dark Souls wins and fails...

As reported by Dark Side of Gaming, Call of the Abyss looks incredible. It's a 15 GB download that adds over 200 weapons from other FromSoftware properties and the developer's own design, new moves for player characters, and even a lighting overhaul. This thing is huge.

With all the changes that the team has made, they claim that Lothic is even darker and grimmer than ever before. I'm not even sure how that's possible but it's one hell of a claim to make. They've essentially made an entire DLC to fill Dark Souls 3 out for those of you who want even more of the classic FromSoftware experience. It's pretty rad.

The developers do warn that the mod is in its alpha stages so fans should be patient and report the bugs that they discover to help improve the mod as a whole. If you're interested in trying it out and maybe even help to identify some of the things that need to change, why not take a look at downloading it from NexusMods.
