The big news for Destiny 2 fans may be the upcoming Shadowkeep expansion, but Bungie is also about to release the free to play edition of its loot shooter. The studio has finally announced what exactly you can get up to without spending any cash and it is a ridiculously full-featured package.

Destiny 2's New Light edition includes three PvE campaigns - The Red War, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind; the Black Armory Forges horde mode, the Gambit versus mode (which itself stands up as something you could sink hundreds of hours into), and the six-person mini-raid called The Menagerie; as well as all of the Year 1 Nighfall Strikes, and Gambit PRime, the shaken up version of Gambit. You also have access to all Year 1 raids, Crucible PvP, PvE Strikes, and in-game events like Iron Banner.

There's a handy infographic that gets across quite how much stuff there is in the New Light edition:

In a follow up tweet, Bungie also added that these are included, too:

On top of that you can level up to Max Power. Bring on that tasty power fantasy.

While you won't have access to Year 2 content and the gear that comes with that, you'll have a great big chunk of the game to play and get a feel for. If you're having a good time then you can think about buying into expansions like Shadowkeep.

The real strength of New Light for me is that it's been hard to get a group of friends to all pick up Destiny at the same time. With the first game, we all came to it at different times and so were playing at different levels. New Light means there's no barrier to starting the game, it should be easy enough to get a bunch of people to install the game and get stuck into that juicy sci-fi co-op.
