If you're a nerd of any sort - doesn't matter if you're into Star Trek or Star Wars, Assassin's Creed or Alien, Marvel or DC - there is a likelihood you've been gifted a Funko Pop at some point. These plastic, stylised reinterpretations of every classic figure under the sun are pervasive and have found their way into the hearts (and homes) of many. There is a huge variety of these figurines now and it's no surprise that some fans try to collect as many as possible - and the largest of these collections has just been crowned king.

David Mebane from Knoxville, Tennessee started collecting Funko Pops in 2014, and now has the largest collection of the toys in the world as confirmed by Guinness World Records. His total number of figures has reached 7,095 - but according to GWR, Mebane purchases between 20 and 30 of the Pops each week, so it's likely his collection has exceeded that number since the record was achieved. His old bedroom is literally wall-to-wall Funko Pops, and apparently the toys go 17 levels deep.

So, why Funko Pops? Mebane is a collector of other pop culture memorabilia, as you can see in this clip showing viewers around his house, but when it comes to this brand in particular, he says: "Why do I love Funko Pops? Well, I guess it's because I love pop culture. And if there is anything that epitomizes pop culture it's Funko Pops. Whether it be TV, movies, wrestling, sports, whatever - Funko covers it all."

He started out collecting horror Pops, as he loves films like Jaws and Friday the 13th, but turned to collect other franchises when he fell in love with series like Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad. Although he started collecting in 2014, he quickly fell into finding rare Pops to keep in his home. Favourite items include Scarface's Tony in his convertible, the bank robber variant of The Joker from The Dark Knight, and the shark in Jaws eating Quint.
