He's kept it fairly... low key.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has finally confirmed its first bisexual character and, surprising precisely nobody, it's Loki. The Asgardian prince revealed his sexuality in the latest episode of his Disney Plus show.

Spoilers for episode three of Loki are about to follow, so if you haven't seen it yet then don't scroll past the trailer below. Although do watch the trailer, because I've got targets to hit.

During episode three, 'Lamentis', Loki has a brief heart-to-heart with Sylvie in a scene that, to be fair, is absolutely bathed in bisexual lighting. Sylvie, a supposed variant of the trickster god, raises the subject of past lovers.

"How about you?" she asks Loki. "You're a prince. Must have been would-be-princesses. Or perhaps another prince."

"A bit of both," he responds with a smile. "I suspect the same as you."

It's an incredibly small moment, but one that fans everywhere are utterly thrilled with. This is, after all, the first actual confirmation we've had on screen that a Marvel character is bisexual. I'm sure plenty of us assumed based on comic book knowledge that Loki was bisexual, yes, but assuming from context and getting actual verbal confirmation are two very different things, and it's super important to see more of the latter.

Loki
director Kate Herron took to Twitter after the episode premiered to explain why it was so important to her to get this conversation into the show. "From the moment I joined [Loki] it was very important to me, and my goal, to acknowledge Loki was bisexual," she wrote. "It is a part of who he is and who I am too. I know this is a small step but I'm happy, and heart is so full, to say that this is now Canon in the MCU."
