If you've ever been curious about The Pokémon Trading Card Game but are daunted by the sheer volume and types of cards and the knowledge needed to play, then your prayers have been answered today. Starting tomorrow, there will be lessons on Twitch and YouTube hosted by famous faces in the TPTCG community.

As someone with a small yet growing collection of cards, and only a childhood assurance from my older cousins that these pieces of paper are very cool, this is a perfect solution. My boyfriend will tell you that if I'm not instantly excellent at any new hobby or game, then I will crumble into despondence at the fact that I am not actually a genius after all. This means that the person sat next to me, or teaching me the rules of this game, will be stuck with a very sad human being who has no real reason to be sad. There are worse things in the world than dying to a pack of powerful enemies in God of War.

Enter Top Deck Academy, "a new weekly series is here to help you learn and improve" your skill in The Pokémon Trading Card Game. "The series will introduce new decks, teach viewers how to create their own custom decks, offer tips to develop solid strategies, and much more," read the announcement from The Pokémon Company. Beginning on February 4th, episodes will release on Twitch and YouTube every Thursday at 2.00pm. That sort of coincides with lunch time, so you could whip up some munchies and settle in for this week's lesson as a chill break in your day.

Furthermore, the lessons will be presented by experts who have been playing and commentating on the game for yonks. This will immerse new players and introduce them as established members of the community, while also offering insider hints and tips to those who are much more familiar with the game as a whole experience. "While Pokémon TCG players of all experience levels can enjoy Top Deck Academy, the series offers beginning and intermediate players an excellent opportunity to dive into the nuances of strategy and deck building," continued the company.

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of Pokémon, and there's so much to look forward to. The artwork in the anticipated Shining Fates set is absolutely beautiful, and over 30 Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX are available to snap up. Additionally, it looks like McDonald's and The Pokémon Company are collaborating in a new promotion, where four TPTCG Cards will be found in every Happy Meal.
