In 1989, Shadowrun made its debut as a cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game. This incredibly popular RPG went on to become a titan of the 90s and 00s gaming scene spawning eight titles, beginning with Shadowrun which was developed by Beam Software for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993.
Set within a futuristic world plagued by corporate warfare and industrial espionage, a 'shadowrun' is the successful theft of an opposing corporate operation. Players face street fighters, destructive AI, plagues, and dragons in their bid to win corporate power. There's certainly a lot going on.

Over the years, the Shadowrun series made its way onto the Xbox 360, iOS, Android and PC but recent news provided current-generation updates. In September 2021, it was announced that PC titles Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut and Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition will be released to the Nintendo Switch as a trilogy in 2022. Now, leaks seem to suggest that might not be the only platform the trilogy is slated for though.

Reddit user the_andshrew recently discovered that an entry for Shadowrun had been published in the PlayStation Network backend. Twitter user gematsu then seemed to provide further clarification after discovering that all three trilogy titles had been rated for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in Taiwan.
Despite no word from developers Paradox Interactive, the discovered rating seems to not only confirm the trilogy's wider release but also suggest an imminent release date. There's good reason as to why the Shadowrun franchise has stood the test of time and we for one, can't wait to see if these rumours prove to be true.
