They're simply stunning

There has been a little bit of a trend recently with players using AI to make the faces they know from games, into far more realistic images. The process means that we, as gamers, get to have a better glimpse into what the game would look like if it was set in the real world. It's sort of awesome actually, and now someone has been using the tech to show us what it would look like if The Witcher 3's NPCs were real too.

On Reddit, user Gutekx12 has posted a selection of pictures of The Witcher 3 cast and what they look like after the AI moulds their faces into slightly more realistic proportions. And yeah wow. Someone should call Netflix and tell it to give this software to its casting director to help them find some of the most accurate portrayals possible.

We're still waiting for the second season of The Witcher to come to Netflix at the end of this year...

These images are really impressive. The before and after shot really does take it from being an NPC to someone you could comfortable see on the street, right? Some in the comments that are from Europe even think they translate well into looking like Slavic people too which is an added bonus. You can take a look at the images below.

And the magic doesn't just stop at The Witcher 3 either. We've recently seen other players using the same sort of AI to translate the NPCs you see in Dark Souls into the real world too. You can see all of those masterpieces here and make your own decision on what set of images are more impressive. It's a toss-up for me, the Dark Souls NPCs look less, well, dead but The Witcher's look like they might be the models we'd eventually see in The Witcher 4.
