If you like The Witcher, you'll love the news that Henry Cavill has apparently been brought on board for another five seasons of the extremely successful adaptation.

"When I talk about The Witcher, I always talk about how these three characters coming together - Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer - they come together as a family. It's the most important part of the series for me," said showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich in an interview with The Wrap. "And when you start to imagine someone's family, you also need to understand their family of origin. Sometimes that's a mother and father, sometimes that's blood relatives. For Geralt, it's his brothers, it's the brotherhood of the witchers."

That last sentence is music to the ears of fans of the novels and the games who will see these iconic characters spark off of each other on the small screen. Eskel will be played by Basil Eidenbenz, Lambert will be played by Paul Bullion, and Coen will be played by Yasen Atour.

The Law Of Surprise is an extremely significant aspect of the culture of the Continent, and it's the reason why Geralt and Ciri are drawn together by destiny. There are other surprises in The Witcher, too, like forgetting your lines, slathering yourself in body oil, and unexpected animal antics.

We've Got This Covered claims that Netflix has arranged for Henry Cavill to play Geralt for five more seasons of the show, which is a whopping amount of Witcher to look forward to. It's not out of the question, though. The company greenlit a second season before the first season was released, and Schmidt Hissrich has planned out a story that spans seven seasons all in all.

"The worst thing we could do is put all of our energies just into season one, and not be thinking about where these characters can grow to," said the showrunner last year. Filming on the second season has taken the cast and crew to Scotland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and England, though it was interrupted at various points due to the pandemic. Naturally, as neither Cavill nor Netflix have confirmed the recent report, we must take this news with a pinch of salt. The second season of The Witcher arrives at the end of this year.
