There's More Similarities To 'The Witcher' In 'Cyberpunk 2077' Than First Realised

There's More Similarities To 'The Witcher' In 'Cyberpunk 2077' Than First Realised

This can only be a good thing.

While Cyberpunk 2077 has no direct connection to The Witcher 3, other than being made by CD Projekt Red, it seems as though mechanically it might share a few more similarities than expected. Andy Kelly at PC Gamer has already sunk 15 hours into Cyberpunk 2077 and has shared that it has "plenty of small touches and well considered characters that readily recall some of the best Witcher 3 quests."

"The quest everyone talks about in The Witcher 3 is The Bloody Baron quest which is a great mix of horror, action, and really strong well-written moving pathos" Andy says in a chat on PC Gamer. "I got a real vibe of The Bloody Baron quest, where there's a character called Judy Alvarez who's a braindance editor expert... you team up with her quite a lot in the story."

Andy then goes on to describe how once you've ended your time with her in the story, it then begins to drift into a variety of side quests, which gives players the opportunity to get to know the character more. This was just one of the moments that highlights how Cyberpunk 2077 is actually similar in style to The Witcher quests despite being a completely different IP.

On top of that, Andy also stated that despite the trailers showing V to be a bit of an edgelord, during his own playthrough, he was actually a much nicer character. So it also looks as though the player will have the decision on what kind of person V is. You could either be a bit of a dweeb, much like the gameplay clips and trailers that we've seen, or go down a much more pleasant path.

Whatever you decide, it's not long left at all until Cyberpunk 2077 finally makes its debut. You'll be able to get your hands on the game on 10th December on both current-gen and next-gen systems.
