This Mewtwo Cosplay Is Both Amazing And Terrifying

This Mewtwo Cosplay Is Both Amazing And Terrifying

The spoon is the most intimidating part

We've seen our fair share of impressive cosplays in our time. From gleaming suits of armour to the relatively delicate Lady Dimitrescu cosplay from an Olympic athlete, we love it when individuals work hard to get us that little bit closer to seeing gaming characters in the real world - but perhaps sometimes it creeps us out a little too.

This Mewtwo Cosplay from the wickedly talented Willow Creative is just that. The psychic Pokémon is now realistically sized as the cosplayer carries its muscular body and giant tail, as well as the comically large spoon. Though we can't really fault its accuracy as even the eyes light up, we can't help but be just a tad scared of the thing. This is not what you want to see at the end of a dark alleyway on your walk home right?

The latest Pokémon game we've been enjoying is New Pokémon Snap! Take a look at our review below:

Willow Creative posted some impressive images of the process behind the costume on Instagram that shows exactly how the cosplay came together. The post reads, "Most of my costumes start off with a 3d sketch in Maya, and I use a 3d scan of myself to make sure to fit the character to myself. Then often parts of the 3d sketch get refined into Pepakura patterns or 3D models for 3D printing. The mask for Mewtwo was 3D printed, and the rest was partly made using patterns I adjusted for Pepakura." Pepakura is a model application that helps construct 3D images into foldable objects.

To make the spoon the cosplayer, used a specific foam and "double layered on the handle with a thin aluminium slat in between. It was painted with hexflex black, spray-painted with molotow chrome and then hexflex clear was dabbed on top with a sponge. The hexflex clear makes it less shiny, but now the paint doesn't crack when I bend the spoon." You see the spoon in the Pokémon manga if you were wondering why it was there.

So, although we are terrified of a real-life Mewtwo, we can't help but be very impressed at the level of dedication Willow Creative has displayed with this piece. You can check out her Instagram here.
