It seems that we might be getting yet another Tony Hawk Pro Skater game. Following the successful remaster of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 it looks like there might be a remaster of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 in the works too, and we know this because of a CKY band interview.
If you don't know CKY by name, you may remember their hit 96 Quite Bitter Beings which has an incredibly catchy guitar riff you could hum to yourself after a session of 2001's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. The band's Jess Margera recently appeared on a podcast that mentioned the band's original involvement with THPS3 and said something that indicated another Tony Hawk game is on the way.
We really enjoyed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 - it's a great rework of the games many of us grew up with. Here is our review...
Spotted by VGC, the host of the Behind Closed Doors podcast says "I'm assuming you guys were on at least one of the Tony Hawk games, weren't you?" to which Jess responds, "Yeah, and I believe we're doing the new one coming out too".
And it doesn't seem like there is much room for confusion either - he doesn't mean Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 because he knows it's already out - he's bought it for his son. "Yeah, my son just got a PS5 and he got the remaster of 1 and 2."
So what could this mean? Well, many didn't expect a Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 remake because Vicarious Visions has been folded into Blizzard by Activision. It just seemed unlikely at the time, but now with this interview, it definitely could be possible that Activision wants another remake after THPS1+2 did so well critically and commercially. Alternatively, we wonder, there might be an add-on to 1+2 that hasn't been announced yet but it did seem like Jess was talking about an entirely new game.
