Well this is a nice surprise: SEGA has just announced Total War: Rome Remastered, a shiny new version of the classic 2004 RTS game with a number of new features and enhancements
Total War: Rome Remastered will hit PC on April 29, which means we've only got a few short weeks to wait before it completely dominates our lives. Even better, those of you who own the original game will be able to get the remaster for 50% off until June 1 via Steam or developer Feral Interactive's own storefront.

"Created in collaboration with Feral Interactive, this comprehensive remaster allows players to relive the legacy that defined the award-winning strategy game series thanks to a suite of visual and gameplay improvements," SEGA explained in a blog post. "Revisit a truly beloved classic as you build your empire, command ferocious battles, and conquer ancient Rome like never before."

Total War: Rome Remastered promises a "modern gaming experience" while staying true to the original game's formula. New features improve completely overhauled visuals, support for ultra-high resolutions, an expanded faction roster, and loads more accessibility options. I particularly love to see that last one.
There'll be plenty of new content too, of course. SEGA confirms 16 previously unplayable factions to play on top of the original 22, as well as a suite of modernised systems and help features that streamline the entire experience. There's also be crossplay support between Windows, macOS and Linux, as well as all of the content from the original Total War: Rome and its expansions.
