A Power Rangers Game Inspired By ‘Batman: Arkham City’ Was In Development

Ever wanted a Power Rangers game where you'd embody one of the squad of superheroes and gambol across an open world in dire need of saving? Well, we came so close to greatness in this abandoned mashup of the classic TV show with gameplay like Batman: Arkham City.

The video game industry is a secretive one where companies go to the ends of the earth to defend their properties and to keep those unannounced projects under their hats to avoid spoiling the hype. However, some of the most exciting endeavours are occasionally lost in the mists of time owing to this diffidence. For example, consider Star Wars: First Assault, the first-person shooter that would have evolved into Star Wars: Battlefront III but was sadly scrapped by Disney.

Jason Bischoff, an ex-employee of Saban Entertainment, has shared an insight into something he was working on in 2016. Posting some frankly fabulous concept art of the Power Rangers, he added that Project Nomad would have been an "ambitious, open world co-op that captured the energy, teamwork, and history of the franchise through a fresh lens."

Us lot at GAMINGbible are extremely excited for Gotham Knights, which stars Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl and Red Hood as playable characters who are left in charge of the city after the death of Batman. Check out the trailer below.

"Basically, 'Arkham' Rangers... or Gotham Knights 5yrs before GK's announcement," clarified Bischoff. The sentiment of developers and publishers who were approached with the premise of Project Nomad was warm, yet, there was neither the budget nor the availability to get this game off the ground. Bischoff acknowledged that this is hardly a unique story about the industry and he's thankful that he had the opportunity to ask some artists to design the look of these Power Rangers. Take a gander:

"I'm about to cry. These character designs are iconic, yet modern. Look how amazing they look," said Twitter user @BLACKOUT2388. "What could've been man... Black Ranger looking f*cking MEAN!" I couldn't have said it better myself. And last but not least, Bischoff posted this awesome art of "Eltar, under occupation, being freed by a myriad of Rangers from across the cosmos," with the assurance that more snapshots from the cancelled Project Nomad might come in the future.
