Update 06/10/2021:

Twitch has confirmed that there has been a breach. In an update on Twitter, the streaming service said that its teams are currently working to learn the extent of the issue, and that it will keep the community informed as to what's happening

Original story follows:

Twitch has reportedly been hacked. Like, the whole damn thing. According to a shocking new report, an anonymous hacker claims to have gained access to pretty much everything from the Amazon-owned streaming platform. That includes user info, Twitch's source code from the very beginning, creator payout reports, and so much more.

As reported by VGC, the user behind this alleged leak has shared a 125GB torrent link to 4chan with all the details. GAMINGbible will obviously not be directing to you to this link, but the hacker responsible has said that the move was designed to "foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space". They also said they believe that the Twitch community is "a disgusting toxic cesspool".

VGC has apparently been able to verify the leak, confirming that at least some of the 125GB worth of information the 4chan poster claims to have obtained is in the torrent. This includes details on mobile, desktop, and console Twitch clients, as well as internal tools used by Twitch staff to improve security.

A number of Twitter users have also started looking through the leak. One user has claimed the torrent includes many encrypted passwords and has suggested users get theirs changed immediately to be on the safe side. You should probably also enable 2FA if you haven't already.

The hacker added that this is just the first stage of the leak, but declined to elaborate on what other information they might have to share.

We've reached out to Twitch for comment and will update this story when we hear back.
