Imane "Pokimane" Anys, the streamer who has a whopping eight million followers on Twitch, has schooled and shamed a sexist viewer after they pleaded with her to reverse their ban.

What a wonderful world. Being a woman on the Internet comes with a whole lot of challenges, and some of these were spotlighted by Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Sigarusa when she was interviewed on the hot tub meta earlier this year. Detractors of the hot tub meta claimed that the female streamers who sat in pools and chatted with their viewers were exploiting their sexuality to attract audiences on Twitch. Others asserted that there isn't anything sexual about this situation, and the platform itself agreed, creating a Pools, Hot Tubs and Beaches category for these content creators.

"I have thought about it - like, is it worth it?" said Siragusa to Polygon. "I really do think it is because every job has its stresses. Every job has stuff that isn't peachy-keen perfect. Like if you're in retail, you have to deal with annoying Karens all day."

Check out this compilation of the strangest things to happen to streamers while they're live on Twitch.

To understand what happened on Pokimane's stream, let me introduce you to Rumay "Hafu" Wang, who is another popular streamer. In the BlizzCon Regionals of 2008, a World of Warcraft team played with a name that expressed hate and harassment towards her when she was only 17 years old. Pokimane brought this incident up while chatting on a recent stream and showed support for Hafu. Then, one of her viewers was banned for poking fun at the topic and said that they would unsubscribe from Pokimane if she didn't reverse the ban.

She checked out the viewer's chat log where it revealed that they made inappropriate comments about Hafu and called Pokimane and her mod team "boring" for not allowing those comments in her chat. "You are exactly the kind of person that we don't want in my community or in the greater gaming community at all," said the streamer. "It is not 'just a joke' to call someone who's underage hot and justify the fact that people are saying they were going to sexually assault them."

"Also, it's not okay to instead of apologising for your s****y comments, to instead try and flip it and call me or my mods 'boring' for 'not getting the joke.' You are so oblivious to your own problems, it's painful... You think I give a f**k about your two dollar sub? You think that's going to make me think that what you're saying is ok? I hope you get banned off this whole platform my guy."

Well said. Here's hoping that this is the last that the streamer sees of this unsavoury character.
