Unbelievable.

The ring of the doorbell when the pack arrives. The crackle of the packaging. The thrill of flipping the cards out one by one to see what you've got. Yep, it's tough to beat the feeling of opening a pack of Pokémon cards. Until you pull the most ridiculous lot ever.

Ray Narvaez Jr, a streamer on Twitch with over 550,000 followers, was opening a Chilling Reign pack while live on the streaming service. 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the pocket monster catching and battling series and The Pokémon Company is pulling out all of the stops. So, we got New Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo Switch, which Tom thought was an utter joy to play. And, the rumoured remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were revealed, as well as a novel open world game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. If you could have seen the GAMINGbible team on that day; we were all practically levitating with excitement with the possibilities of Arceus and the adorableness of the chibi Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

That's not even counting Pokémon Unite, the brand new MOBA for Switch also on its way to mobile devices in September. Unsure of where to start with this twist on the Pokémon formula? Check out our guide here and the trailer for the popular game.

So, the stream started innocuously enough for Narvaez Jr. With the cameras on his face and on his hands as he flipped through the cards, he got a Path to the Peak card from the Chilling Reigns pack. He then pulled a Weedle. And another Weedle. And another Weedle. And another Weedle. And another Weedle. "What is happening with this pack?!" exclaimed the streamer. "I am in hell!" Let me be clear - this is the same card replicated five times in a row. What ridiculous, rotten luck.

Now, the pack had been resealed by the seller, so it's possible that this is purely an instance of an mechanical error as the cards were put inside the packs. Or, the previous owner had placed five Weedle cards in there as a prank. We won't be able to know for certain, of course. However, Narvaez Jr. appears to have come to terms with the shocking sequence of events, and shared the clip to his Twitter account with the caption, "guess im a bug trainer now :)"

"Is it just me or does anyone else want his voice escalating to a yell saying Weedle as a ringtone? Cuz I do," said a fan in the replies. "That 3rd 'WEEDLE' was priceless," added another. At least there's a silver lining in all of this.
