Dad Gives One-Of-A-Kind Sonic PlayStation 5 To His Overwhelmed Son

Sometimes, you just have to sit back and let someone else's happiness lift you up for a while. Just bask in some positive rays, as a total stranger sees lady luck shine on them in a quite exceptional way. Here, we've one of those instances - I'm here for it, you're here for it, so, shall we?

Brandon Weissman, the guy behind the small YouTube channel Nerd Logic Creations, recently entered and won a giveaway run by IDW, the publisher responsible for comics starring The Transformers, Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, and most significantly in this case Sonic the Hedgehog. To mark the SEGA mascot's 30th anniversary, the publisher offered a pretty spectacular bundle of toys, video games, comics and... a very special console.

As you can see in the video above, Brandon and his son unpack a plushie, a stack of Sonic games for the PlayStation (hmm, whatever could that be hinting at) and an even bigger pile of trade paperback Sonic comics. Nice. But the cherry on the icing on the cake is a one-of-a-kind PlayStation 5 console, which both Weissman senior and junior can hardly contain their excitement over. I love the kid's ever-widening smile and fists-clenched yes moment - as a dad of two sons myself, the endorphins are real.

It peaks when dad says to son: "This is your PS5. Now you have one." Turns out dad already has one himself, but that takes nothing away from his son's joy at receiving such a gift. Yeah the soft toy and comics are nice, but this. It's really something else, and I am made up for the lad.

While one side of the PS5 has a pretty OTT IDW logo beside one for the Sonic series - bit unsightly, NGL - on the other side is a hand-drawn (in Sharpie) design featuring a host of franchise characters - Sonic, Tails, Amy, and a few others. A note attached reads, "The drawing has been sealed, but it's still delicate." A real treasure, and no mistake. So kid, go easy with that console, yeah? And if I see this on eBay, I'm gonna be very disappointed.
