PlayStation 5 Custom DualSense Controllers Announced, Come In 10 Gorgeous Colours

Change it up.

The PlayStation 5's DualSense controller is nothing short of a marvel, and easily the best thing about Sony's next-gen console.

Having devoured Astro's Playroom the day my PS5 arrived, I was instantly sold on the DualSense's haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and all the other neat little hidden tricks and features baked into the controller. I'm all for 60fps and eye-popping graphics, but the way the DualSense adds that extra layer of immersion is what has me really excited for future PlayStation 5 games.

That's why it's such a shame, in my humble opinion, that it's quite a bland-looking bit of kit. It's not like this is a deal-breaker, or even something I notice that much when I'm gaming, but I wish Sony would just come out and announce some custom variants already.

Until they do, we can always rely on third-party vendors to provide a little bit of variety... at least for the time being. A company called Decor Evolve is currently selling a range of $10 DualSense covers that come in all different colours. At present there are ten to choose from: Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, Light Blue, Steel Gray, Orange, Midnight Blue, Purple, Blue, and Red.

In theory, all you need to do is place and order and swap out the stock faceplate to create a controller that works for you. The fly in the ointment is that Sony might not allow Decor Evolve to continue doing this for long. It was only a few months ago that Sony forced a third-party manufacturer to stop selling custom PS5 faceplates. Given that this new venture isn't too far removed from that one, it's likely that it could be shut down before anyone can order anything.

That's not an encouraging sign for Decor Evolve, granted, but maybe Sony is more willing to let custom DualSense covers slide. At the very least, maybe Sony could go ahead and announce its own official range already so that those of us who want to change it up finally can.
