Now there are two of them?

It's a lovely day in the village, and you are a pair of horrible geese. That's right, 2019's indie darling Untitled Goose Game is getting a free multiplayer update that allows you to wreak bird-based havoc with a friend. Developer House House announced that this surprise multiplayer expansion will be available from September 23rd on all platforms.

"Soon you'll be able to enjoy Untitled Goose Game with a friend, in a new two-player cooperative mode," House House said in the trailer, which you can see below. "Play through the whole game as two horrible geese, honking twice as much, teaming up to plan pranks, and generally ruining everyone's day, together."

Untitled Goose Game was one of our favourite games of 2019, throwing players into a brilliantly designed stealth sandbox game in which your only goal is to be the absolute worst goose you can possibly be.

"UGG is packed with genuinely hilarious moments like this that really are best discovered for yourself," I wrote in my 9/10 review of the game last year. "Not least because working out the correct chain of events or items needed to break a woman's prize vase or get yourself dressed up in a ribbon are so much funnier, and far more satisfying, when you've joined the dots without any help.

"There's also a welcome lack of urgency, meaning you're free to take your time, experiment, and mess up. While humans can shoo you away and take their stolen items back, there are no game over screens and you simply waddle straight back over and try a new approach whenever you want. I wasn't expecting a game about a goose to be one of the best sandbox puzzle games I've played in years, but here we are."

The idea of diving back into one of my favourite indies of the last few years with a friend fills me with joy. I can't wait to see how honking around town with another goose enhances the experience and causes double the amount terror for the poor residents of the game's small English village. That poor kid with the glasses thought he had it bad before? Honk honk, baby. Honk Honk.
