Vaas Finally Returns In Surprise New Far Cry Game

Vaas Finally Returns In Surprise New Far Cry Game

Hello, old friend.

Ubisoft has announced that fan-favourite villain Vaas will be returning in an all-new Far Cry game that brings players back to the world of Far Cry 3... although perhaps not in the way you might have been hoping.

The bad news is that it'll only be available as a VR experience at certain locations around the world. Given that pesky viral pandemic that hasn't actually gone away yet, I can't imagine this is something most of us will get to play anytime soon.

For now, you can at least check out the trailer below. Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity does look pretty damn cool. A collaboration between Ubisoft and Zero Latency, this virtual reality experience offers up to eight players the chance to return to the Rook Islands and take on Vaas and his crew. Players are hooked up with a physical gun accessory that lets them dive into immersive combat scenarios that take your entire body into account, which is awesome.

"Vaas and his crew get bored really quickly," Zero Latency explain over on the game's official website. "Turns out, even the charms of an idyllic island life of organised crime and kidnapping gets tiresome eventually. Hungry for entertainment, this innovative gang have added a twist to the sport of hunting and well, you see where this is going - they're hunting you and your friends.

"You need to do whatever it takes to get the f*#& off this island."

Groups of friends can team up and engage in firefights with hordes of pirates, moving deeper into the jungle before heading into a final showdown with Vaas himself. If nothing else, it's just great to see the best Far Cry villain of all time back, even if it's just for a little bit.

Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity will be available at all 45 of Zero Latency's worldwide locations in 2021. Exact dates have yet to be confirmed because, once again, the whole pandemic situation. Hopefully we'll see this one sooner rather than later, because it'd be great to team up with friends and play through an experience like this. Or even just meet friends. Or go outside. Or do something. Anything, really.
