Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's celebrated his 49th birthday over the weekend, and expectedly, fans were out in force to show their appreciation for the former wrestler and actor, and to send their birthday wishes through social media.

Johnson's present project is Young Rock, an NBC sitcom TV show that tells the story of his life relayed by the actor himself who is running as a candidate in the 2032 United States presidential elections. There are layers to this. Each episode features a flashback to one of three stages in his life: as a ten-year-old in Hawaii; as a high school student in Pennsylvania; and as a college student and football player at the University of Miami. And, what's more is that the guy who plays Johnson during his time in Miami has been brought on board the upcoming Black Adam movie. Uli Latukefu, whose role is currently undisclosed, looks like the image of The Rock when he was younger (yet no less sassier, of course), and so theories about the spinoff's storyline are hotting up.

Last Friday, Johnson announced that Young Rock has been renewed for a second season, which is a brilliant beginning to a birthday weekend. "THANK YOU and CONGRATS to all our brilliant production partners and talented cast. Most of all, THANK YOU to my #1 boss - all of you and your families for bringing the largest audience in years for an NBC comedy," said the actor on Facebook. "A huge mahalo for joining me on this wild and unbelievable journey... Season 2, here we come - and hello Mr Flex Kavana, we've been expecting you." This jubilant mood was only heightened by his fans and former collaborators who were thrilled to celebrate his birthday together.

Some even marked the occasion in their own eccentric shows of appreciation, which I'm certain tickled Johnson as he scrolled through social media.

Black Adam is arriving in 2022 and the cast is absolutely star studded, with Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. As fate would have it, another former wrestler is as keen as mustard to bag the role of the supervillain Bane, and they even knocked on WB Pictures' door to start discussions.
