Hey you. Yeah you, don't you remember Overwatch? That great team shooter made by Blizzard that released in 2016? Yeah, well although it never went free-to-play fully, Blizzard is allowing everyone to try the game out for free on PC until early 2021 which is pretty ace.
This might be biased, but we really like Overwatch. We even consider it one of the best 100 games ever made and many of the team have really clocked up the hours over the years. We also really like free games, and games we can play with friends - see where we're going with this?
If by some chance you haven't heard of Overwatch before, it's a 6v6 character-shooter from Blizzard that came out almost half a decade ago now. Dozens of heroes over three different roles have different abilities, personalities, and uses. Unlike a lot of other shooters like Valorant, Call of Duty: Warzone and more, the time-to-kill is pretty high which makes it a really enjoyable way to get into the FPS genre as a whole.
2020 has been a year of connecting with friends, both new and old, through games. They've been a bit of a lifeline when people couldn't meet up and socialise as they usually would, so we've always been looking for more ways to enjoy each other's company. A free trial of Overwatch is just another one of those ways.
We've spent a lot of that time playing Among Us, Call of Duty, and various other new titles so it might be nice to revisit an older title with mates you haven't seen in a while. And anyway, we're still just waiting for Back 4 Blood to drop so we can spend all our evenings killing zombies with friends.
Overwatch is free to try until January 4 and can be found via the Battle.net app.
