Jared Leto's Snyder Cut Joker 'An Evolution' Of The Character, Says Actor

Zack Snyder's Justice League premiered last week, meaning fans finally got to see the original director's cut of the huge superhero movie. One of the most talked-about moments in the new cut is Jared Leto's Joker appearing in the film as part of a nightmare sequence. Appearing on The Late Show, Leto shared with with Stephen Colbert how he was grateful to be included in this cut of Justice League, and how this movie was "one for the ages". When asked whether he thought this might be a bit of a redemption arc for his version of the Joker, Leto simply responded saying that he was just happy to be able to play the character one more time.

Later in the interview, Colbert held up photos of the two different versions of the Joker that Leto has played, highlighting the differences between the two. "I think it's an evolution," Leto said when comparing David Ayer's vision to Zack Snyder's, and Leto went on to explain how when working with a different director it brings out different things in you. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Justice League producer Deborah Snyder shared that it was no easy task to get Leto back to reprise the role. Before approaching the studio, Zack and Jared were having discussions about the Joker's appearance in the film. Initially Leto wasn't interested, but after Zack shared what he had planned for the scene he jumped on board. Due to scheduling difficulties, though, Ben Affleck and Leto ended up shooting their scenes separately.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is now available to watch on HBO Max in the US and NOW TV over here in the UK. It's nearly four hours long though, so be sure to schedule in some toilet breaks and have plenty of snacks at the ready.
