Gears of War Will Get ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ Treatment, Insider Claims

Gears of War Will Get ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ Treatment, Insider Claims

There's still no news on a potential Gears 6, but an insider claims we could get a collection similar to Halo's The Master Chief Collection.

I’ll start off by saying that ‘The Master Chief treatment’ is in no way related to what the Chief did to Makee in the latest episode of the Halo Tv series. Moving swiftly on, it’s been a quiet few years for the Gears of War franchise. Given the success of Gears 5, you’d expect that a Gears 6 announcement would be a surefire yes but alas, here we are still waiting.

The Gears 6 drought looks set to continue, but I do have some good news. A few months ago, an insider claimed that a major Microsoft franchise would receive the Halo: The Master Chief Collection treatment and Gears of War, Fallout and Fable were all thrown around as possible options. Now, the same source has offered further clarification.

Master Chief has been the talk of the town lately due to his scandalous antics in the Halo TV series. If you're yet to watch the series, why not check out the trailer below?

Once again appearing on the Xbox Era podcast, journalist Nick Baker clarified that he was in fact speaking about Gears of War, which is what most people suspected. He said, “A while back, I said there is another Microsoft franchise that’s getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment, I am of the belief that that is coming this year.”

He began laughing when people tried to pin down whether it was in fact Gears of War that he was talking about. “I still won’t say it, but everyone has guessed it,” he added.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection combined together Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3 and Halo 4. It also included improved graphics, increased multiplayer maps and additional multiplayer campaigns.

The Coalition did previously hint as to why they hadn’t yet announced a Gears 6. The studio has switched over to Unreal Engine 5 and said, “Shifting to a new engine is a big undertaking, so we want to be clear that we will not be announcing any new projects or titles for some time.”

A refreshed Gears collection would certainly be nice to tide us over but as always, this has to be taken with a pinch of salt until anything is officially confirmed.
