Just over three years ago, Game of Thrones drew to a close after eight seasons. Whatever your thoughts on the final season, you cannot deny that watching Game of Thrones was an unmatched experience as the world collectively theorised and obsessed over every single detail.

If that’s brought back golden memories then you’re in luck because more Game of Thrones content is on the way. House of the Dragon debuts on 21 August but what’s even more exciting is that just last week, we learnt that Kit Harington will be reprising his role as Jon Snow in a brand new Game of Thrones sequel series - and now George R.R. Martin is lifting the lid on the project.

Did you know that there's a Game of Thrones sword hidden in Elden Ring? Take a look below.

HBO has entered early development on a Jon Snow sequel and George R.R. Martin has revealed that the working title is Snow. The author noted that the sequel has actually been in development for a few years but unlike other Game of Thrones spin-offs, was kept under wraps until the recent leak.

In a blog post, he said, “Yes, there is a Jon Snow show in development. Our working title for the show is Snow. [...] Snow has been in development almost as long as the other three [spin offs], but for whatever reason it was never announced and it never leaked … until now. [...] There’s not much more I can tell you, not until HBO gives me a green light.”

The author seemingly confirmed that the show was actually Kit Harington’s idea. He said, “Yes, it was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us. I cannot tell you the names of the writers or showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet … but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”

This is all hugely exciting but perhaps the most important thing that Martin notes is that Snow is currently in the script-writing stage and is yet to receive a green light from HBO. Given how people have responded to the news, I’d definitely be surprised if Snow didn’t eventually hit our screens. Still, it could be a lengthy wait but hey, we’re Game of Thrones fans. We’re used to it.
