'Ghost Recon Breakpoint' Is Getting A Completely New Campaign

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint didn’t exactly launch to major critical acclaim. The action shooter was released back in 2019 to lukewarm reviews and was quickly overshadowed by other FPSs. However, Ubisoft hasn’t given up on it and has handed the game another chance to thrive with a completely new campaign mode. 

As reported by PCGamesN, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is getting a huge update under the name of Operation Motherland. This campaign will let players fight for control of the fictional island Auroa after the main mission’s consequences lead to all sorts of factions landing on the island to claim its technology. You’ll be part of the ghost squad tasked to help the Outcasts led by Haruhi Ito to clear the land of these enemy forces.

The new campaign’s Conquest Mode splits the island up into many different areas, each with a lieutenant. The gameplay will focus on “destabilisation missions” in these areas which will slowly but surely remove the enemy presence from the island, from fewer enemy patrols to the elimination of drones. 

Not only are there factions controlled by countries on this island, but the Bodarks are back too. The Bodarks are essentially the Russian counterpart to the CIA’s Ghosts. They’ll have new guns, tech, and five different variations of soldiers for you to battle on the island.  

As well as the new campaign, there are changes to the wider game like raising the Maximum XP level from 30 to 99. It’s all actually pretty impressive. Lots of people didn’t play the original Ghost Recon Breakpoint but this could convince some to try it out. It’s at least interesting to see Ubisoft double down on releasing more content for a game that’s less popular than they’re normally used to.
