2018’s God of War has been an all-around success, it’s undeniable at this point. It’s one of the defining games of the PlayStation 4 era and honestly, it’s a rarity to find anyone that doesn’t love that game. From the emotional father and son bonding to the gorgeous animations and luscious environment, there is a lot of positive stuff to say about the game. So it’s a good thing that almost 20 million copies of the game have been sold, isn’t it?

In the blog post announcing that God of War (2018) is coming to PC, the sales numbers for the game were revealed to the public and wow - that’s a lot of boys and Kratoses huh. The team announced the new addition to Steam and says: “As of August 2021, 19.5MM copies for God of War on PlayStation 4 have been sold through and we can’t wait to share that experience with a whole new group of players on PC.”

In case you missed the God of War Ragnarök trailer, here it is…

So although we have confirmation that the game has sold 19.5 million copies, it may well be past 20 million by now. Come on, the game came out in 2018, so another two months may push that number over 20 million, especially with the reveal trailer for God of War Ragnarök in September.

Oh, and in case you missed the news that God of War is coming to PC… surprise! The game will be arriving on Steam next year on January 14, 2022, which is a nice way to begin the year, right? Especially with all the added benefits like DLSS and 21:9 ultra-widescreen support. And though it doesn’t yet have a specific release date, God of War Ragnarök is set to release in 2022, too, on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
