'God of War Ragnarok' Release Date Finally Announced

'God of War Ragnarok' Release Date Finally Announced

Santa Monica Studio have finally announced when God of War Ragnarok will be released.

God of War fans aren’t known for their patience, even if it’s a quality that Santa Monica Studio are so desperate to test. With God of War Ragnarök scheduled to release this year, we convinced ourselves that the game’s release date would be announced during this year’s not-E3. Well, that time has come and gone.

Since then, fans have desperately begged for the studio to open up about the game’s imminent release - with some resorting to completely unacceptable methods - but I’m here to tell you, the day we’ve all been waiting for has finally come. Kratos will be returning to our consoles when God of War Ragnarök launches on 9 November, 2022.

Check out the brand new trailer for God of War Ragnarök below.

God of War Ragnarök is scheduled to release on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 9 November 2022. November has been touted as a potential release window by fans and leakers alike for quite some time, so it’s unlikely anyone will be too disappointed by the short four month wait we now have ahead of us.

In addition to announcing the release date, Santa Monica Studio released a brand new trailer which is very handily available for you to view in this article. Referring to the trailer, the team teased that it contains “a glimpse at some of the dangers Kratos and Atreus could find themselves up against as Ragnarök approaches.”

Within the trailer, you can see Kratos and Atreus facing up against some familiar foes like the Draugr and Hel-Walkers but we also see our favourite father and son duo in an intense stand-off with a giant wolf - and when I say giant, we’re talking about a very big doggo indeed. If you’re a Norse expert, you’ll know that the most famous giant wolf in Norse mythology is Fenrir.

Fenrir is the son of Loki who is said to have risen during Ragnarök . We know that Atreus is Loki so the whole son thing doesn’t make a ton of sense but I’m sure the game itself will reveal all. Also, if swinging Kratos’ virtual Blades of Chaos isn’t enough for you, fans will be able to pre-order a special Jötnar Edition of God of War Ragnarök which comes complete with a 16 inch replica of Thor’s hammer. Nice.
