‘God Of War Ragnarök’ Could Take Us Back To Greece

They say good things come to those who wait and after months of speculation, our anguish is finally over. We now know that God Of War Ragnarök will be released on 9 November 2022, so you can all quit brandishing your Spartan Rage every time the game fails to appear at a showcase.

Not only did Santa Monica Studio drop the release date, we were also treated to a new cinematic trailer which showed Kratos and Atreus coming face-to-face with a giant wolf. Based on what we know about Norse mythology, this appears to be Fenrir. One fan theory has since popped up that suggests the story could take us back to where it all began: Greece.

One thing we do know about God Of War Ragnarök is that Tyr is going to be much more heavily featured. As a recap, Tyr is the Norse god of war and someone whom Odin considers a threat. Prior to the events of 2018’s God of War, Tyr was imprisoned by Odin with many assuming him to be dead.

God Of War Ragnarök will see Kratos and company attempt to track down Tyr in the hope of asking him to join them in their fight. This is where Greece comes into the picture. YouTuber Kaptain Kuba points to a moment in God of War in Tyr’s temple. It was revealed that Tyr travelled to other lands to learn of their ways and one tapestry shows the Norse god’s trip to Greece, where he gifted a mysterious object to its people.

Kaptain Kuba’s theory is that whatever Tyr is gifting to the Greeks, it could be the key to stopping Ragnarök and the subsequent destruction of the world. It’s certainly within the realm of possibility. We still have some major gaps to fill in Kratos’ timeline so perhaps a trip back home is just what’s needed. Either way, we only have to wait a few more months to find out.
