Everyone stay calm, the release date for God of War Ragnarök just got confirmed by Sony. All the 2022 release date non-believers can go eat their hats now - there’s no delays here. Kratos’ upcoming adventure will be upon us on 9 November, so we only have four more months to go.
What’s more, alongside a new trailer, three additional special editions of the game have also been unveiled. As well as your standard version (which just gives you the game), there’s also the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, and Jötnar Editions to choose from, with the latter two containing some sweet physical goodies, which have been detailed on the PlayStation Blog.

There’s a lot to talk about here, so let’s get into it. First up, the Digital Deluxe edition of the game includes Darkdale armour and attire for Kratos and Atreus, respectively, as well as Darkdale Blades Handles for the Blades of Chaos and the Darkdale Axe Grip for the Leviathan Axe. You’ll also get a digital mini art book and soundtrack, as well as an avatar set and PS4 theme.

Next up is the Collector’s Edition, which as you can see in the video, comes packaged in a gorgeous Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine-inspired box. This one comes with a steelbook, two Vanir Twins carvings (completing the set from the God of War [2018] Collector’s Edition), a Dwarven dice set (with a “wood-like” finish, and a bag featuring the symbol of Yggdrasil), and most excitingly, a 16-inch replica of Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir. You’ll also get all the same digital bonuses as the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Finally, the biggest and best of the bunch - the Jötnar Edition. As well as all the same bonuses as before (and in the same lovely box), fans will also get a cloth map of Yggdrasil, the Legendary Draupnir ring (complete in a cloth bag), a pin set of a falcon, bear and wolf (representing Faye, Kratos and Atreus), and a 7-inch vinyl record, which features two tracks from the game’s music composer, Bear McCreary. Oh, and the dice set is a bit different, too - it comes with a metallic silver finish, and a bag featuring the Huldra Brothers’ brand.
It’s also worth noting that neither the Collector’s or Jötnar Editions of the game actually come with the physical game disc - you’ll just get a download code, so do with that information what you will. Additionally, anyone who buys the game before launch will be able to grab themselves the Risen Snow Armour for Kratos, and Risen Snow Tunic for Atreus.
