Grand Theft Auto franchise hit with yet another cancellation by Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto fans could have gotten a free documentary about the making of GTA V, before Rockstar Games canned it.

Grand Theft Auto fans will be sad to hear they could have gotten a free documentary about the making of GTA V, before Rockstar Games canned it.

At the time of writing, GTA V is still Rockstar’s most successful game to date, at least until GTA VI releases.

Check out the trailer for GTA VI below.

GTA V sold over 180 million copies in its time, and has been on not one, or two, but three Xbox and PlayStation console generations.

As one of the greatest, most-successful games ever made, you’d think Rockstar would like to share some insight into how it put together such a masterpiece, as well as how they followed up with another banger, Red Dead Redemption 2.

Well as it turns out, it did once upon a time, as the developer was reportedly working on a documentary about how GTA V came to be.

This would have been very similar to Naughty Dog’s documentary about The Last Of Us and The Last Of Us Part 2, if it had actually gone ahead.

During a recent Q&A hosted by Streamily, GTA V’s stars Shawn Fonteno, Ned Luke, and Steven Ogg, who played Franklin, Michael and Trevor respectively, shared details on what it was like to make the game.

Ned Luke said, "What's nuts is we had that behind the scenes camera going the whole time and they never did anything with it. That would have been gold."

Steven Ogg then followed up saying: “I think at one point, didn't we discuss like how cool to make the making of... so at this point we'd have the documentary on the making of GTA."

Not only would the documentary shed some light on the development of the game, it’d probably also include some cut voice lines that the main trio would have said during the story, making it a sore loss for fans.

Perhaps GTA VI will spark Rockstar’s creativity and lead to a documentary of that game instead.
