'GTA 6' Will Have An International Setting, According To Job Listing

'GTA 6' Will Have An International Setting, According To Job Listing

Rockstar Games was interested in the possibility a few years ago.

The next Grand Theft Auto game will feature an international set of locations, if the details of this opportunity to work for Rockstar Games is anything to go by.

Along with a whole host of other listings, the studio is looking for a photogrammetry artist who would "discuss and plan possible scan locations with art team, both local and international." This is an established approach for Rockstar Games who sought out inspiration from the real world for the lavishly expansive and lifelike environments of Red Dead Redemption 2

“We’ve always tried to create worlds that feel like places as much as games, and we’ve been able to use the latest technology to push that idea forward in ways we never have before,” said Aaron Garbut, art director at Rockstar North, in an interview several years ago.

Now, there are some naysayers in the community that reckon Grand Theft Auto VI is nothing but a castle in Spain. With this new nugget of information, it’s possible that the game could take us to a castle in Spain. Or, somewhere else. Fans have been dead certain that Grand Theft Auto would be returning to Vice City in some capacity, either in the modern day or in the 1990s

Rockstar Games has been curious about taking the series elsewhere but there were caveats. “I think there are plenty of great stories we could tell about the UK, great environments to showcase, great gameplay mechanics that could have a UK bent to them – I just don't think it would be a GTA necessarily,” said Dan Houser in an interview in 2013.

It’s worth noting that this job is located in Rockstar Toronto, which has helped out with the development of Grand Theft Auto V. “International” would technically cover any trips to the USA, so it’s equally possible that the setting of the next Grand Theft Auto game will be inspired by one of the county’s major cities.

It’s all moot anyway as Rockstar Games has gotten so fed up with players constantly clamouring for Grand Theft Auto VI, it’s muted the title in comments on its official YouTube channel. Understandably, it would rather the focus was on the upcoming remaster of Grand Theft Auto V for new-gen consoles and the trilogy remasters that are arriving next month. Though, this hasn’t stopped fans from demanding something new from the studio on other social media sites.
