Today is a sad day for creative players of GTA V as Rockstar Games is deleting a popular feature from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
Grand Theft Auto V was initially released in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before finally being ported to the more recent PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Over the years, it became one of the most successful video games of all time, only sitting beneath the almighty Minecraft.

Of course, one of the other reasons for the continued success of Grand Theft Auto V is the money-making cash cow that is GTA Online. However, perhaps one unsung feature of GTA V is its awesome Rockstar Editor which allows players to make movies, and trailers, and recreate popular scenes from previous games in the series or even moments from another franchise entirely. No doubt fans will be eagerly awaiting the new and improved version of the Rockstar Editor in the upcoming GTA VI.

Unfortunately for fans of Rockstar Editor, that mode is soon to be deleted, at least for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. “As we begin to approach the limits of what’s possible within the technical capacity of previous-generation consoles, we are taking necessary steps to allow for future GTA Online updates on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” announced Rockstar Games in a recent blog post.
“As part of these changes, the Rockstar Editor (including any Clips or Projects saved in the Rockstar Editor) will no longer be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as of February 20, 2024. The Rockstar Editor will continue to be fully supported on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC,” Rockstar Games continued.
“This update will help to ensure the stability of these platforms and keep them updated with GTA Online additions for as long as possible. For more information on the Rockstar Editor changes, including how to export and save Rockstar Editor Projects on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, please visit our Support site.”
It’s a shame that this feature has to be removed from GTA V on last-gen consoles as I’m sure there will be a lot of disappointed creative gamers. It’s perhaps worth saving any clips stored on the editor to your console so that you won't lose them forever, unless you’ve taken that measure already, of course.

As for the other immediate future, Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. At the time of writing, a PC release hasn't been announced, yet.
