Who is still buying Grand Theft Auto V? No, seriously. It's getting silly, and I want names.

Fifty years from now when I'm an old man who still hasn't been allowed to retire because the retirement age has been moved up to 110, I'll still be writing about GTA V has managed to shift another several million units in the space of a few months.

Rockstar's critically acclaimed open-world crime sim has been out for coming up to a decade at this point, and is showing no signs of slowing down. According to Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive, GTA V has now shifted a whopping 160 million copies worldwide.

Back in November it was 155 million, so an eight-year-old game has somehow sold another 5 million units in a matter of months. How? Why? I just don't know anymore.

To put this number further into perspective, GTA V is comfortably the second best-selling video game of all time. It's well ahead of Tetris (100 million) but a fair bit behind Minecraft (238 million). GTA V also accounts for nearly half of the total sales of the entire Grand Theft Auto franchise (370 million).

As pointed out Bloomberg's Jason Schreier on Twitter, GTA V's latest sales numbers mean the game has now overtaken the lifetime sales of two major franchises: Assassin's Creed (155 million) and Resident Evil (123 million). GTA V has now sold more than the entire Assassin's Creed franchise combined. Let that sink in.

With the "expanded and enhanced" version of GTA V bound for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC next month, you just know that ridiculous number is only going to grow.
