GTA 6 Online is making a big change, but fans are on board

The upcoming arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6 means that players will get to welcome a brand-new GTA Online experience. However, one big change has, for once, made players quite excited for the future.

This time next year we may be mere months away from the long-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto 6. With the last instalment released way back in 2013, it is safe to say that fans are eager to get stuck in to not just the main game, but also its GTA Online accompaniment.

Even if GTA 5 had exhausted its content long ago, GTA 5 Online did not and fans have still been eagerly playing over the course of its 10-year plus lifespan. From roleplaying to official heists, Rockstar’s online component has received regular player-supported updates over the years.

However, despite many players putting a whole lot of time (and money) into GTA Online, they are ready to start afresh with the arrival of GTA 6 as one Reddit user explains over on r/GTA6.

“I have seen people post about wanting their GTAO progress to be transferred to the next GTAO when GTA 6 comes out,” they wrote. “I have seen this on this sub and r/gtaonline, even some of my friends want this to happen. It won't and it shouldn't.”

They go on to explain that although they have “done everything that has to be done” on GTA Online, they are still ready to start from scratch and will be happy to have nothing transferred between games.

“It's a new game, a generation and a new chapter. We should be starting out with NOTHING. That's the beauty of it. From having nothing to doing jobs, missions and heists,” they continue.

“Making money, making our character strong and buying the stuff we want. That's what makes the grind worth it. There isn't any fun playing GTAO if we have everything from the beginning”.

It is doubtful to assume that Rockstar will carry over any saved data between the games. However, it is reassuring to see that many players would be fine to start anew.
