GTA 6 publisher Take-Interactive teases Max Payne and LA Noire sequels

It may be easy to forget, but Rockstar Games is known for more than the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series.

Other fantastic titles include Max Payne, Bully, Manhunt, The Warriors, L.A. Noire and perhaps most of all, Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis. The latter of which is truly a timeless classic in video game history.

Check out the Max Payne 3 trailer below

Under the Rockstar Games umbrella, developed by Alan Wake II studio Remedy Entertainment, the original Max Payne was released in 2001 and was one of the developer's earliest and best games, which was later followed up by its sequel in 2003.

Now being handled by Rockstar Studios, we would have to wait nearly ten years for the arrival of Max Payne 3 in 2012 and it did not disappoint. However, it’s now been over ten years since Pax Payne 3 and fans would love nothing more than to see the former renegade cop of the NYPD return once more.

Thankfully that wish was recently granted with both of the two original Max Payne games being remade into one glorious bundle with Remedy Entertainment returning to the developmental helm with the remakes entering full production in November 2023. Yet, what of L.A Noire, Rockstar Games’ forgotten title. This is despite there being fan demand for an L.A. Noire sequel.

L.A. Noire was released in 2011 and the best we’ve had so far in terms of their being new entries are ports for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch as well as VR release. There was at some point a sequel to L.A. Noire in development called W**** of the Orient before it was cancelled. That being said, there is a small glimmer of hope that we one day will see the return of the L.A. Noire in some form, whether it be a direct sequel or spiritual successor.

As reported by DualShockers, CEO of Rockstar Games’s parent company and publisher Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick said during an earnings call for investors that various sequels are being considered with slideshow images being shown that featured Max Payne 3, Midnight Club and L.A. Noire.

Unfortunately, it’s worth taking the earnings call with a pinch of salt. After all, they are just internal conversations at this point and other than the Max Payne remakes, neither L.A. Noire nor Midnight Club have been officially announced. That being said, it’s interesting nonetheless that further sequels are at least being considered.

As for what we know for sure, GTA VI will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
