It’s an exciting time to be a Grand Theft Auto fan. After years of waiting for the real-deal, Rockstar Games has finally acquiesced and unveiled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

This remastered package includes substantially overhauled versions of three classic games: Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas. The compilation launches November 11, and Rockstar has promised a suite of visual and gameplay enhancements, including improved UI and controls.

Take a look at the remasters for yourself below! Certainly, they look closer to being full-on remakes to me… but Rockstar insists they’re remasters, so there we are.

While most of us will probably be more inclined to head straight out and buy the full package when it launches next month, Xbox Game Pass users can look forward to a very exciting bonus: San Andreas will be available as a standalone release via the subscription service from day one.

That means anyone with a subscription can play the long-awaited remaster on an Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S. And if you don’t have one of those? You can simply play it on your laptop, PC, or phone via streaming. While this technically isn’t “free” for everyone, if you’ve never signed up before it is possible to get a seven day free trial.

This is obviously one heck of a bonus for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, especially given San Andreas has proven time and time again to be the one GTA game people are most desperate to see remastered. Fortunately, PlayStation users won’t be entirely left out in the cold. GTA III will be available via the PlayStation Now service, although not until December 7. I think we know who got the better deal there.
