'Halo 3: ODST' Gets Stunning Unreal Engine 5 Remake

'Halo 3: ODST' Gets Stunning Unreal Engine 5 Remake

Indie dev Gearshift Media has released a playable demo of their Halo 3: ODST remake, and it looks fantastic.

Who’s ready for some shiny new Unreal Engine 5 remake action? Of course you are, that’s why you’re here, and oh boy is this a good one.

As reported by DSOGaming, indie dev Gearshift Media has released a gorgeous demo of their Halo 3: ODST remake, which, yes, you can actually play and experience for yourself. The demo has been titled Dropzone, and is totally free to download.

Or, if you want to see what it'd look like if you modded Master Chief into God of War, take a look below (and prepare for the chaos).

Gearshift Media also released a trailer for the demo, so if your PC isn’t powerful enough to handle running the real thing, fear not. New Mombasa has never looked better, and we can only hope that if the game is ever officially remade, that it’d look as good as this. Take a look for yourself below.

Dropzone is a 15-30 minute narrative and exploration experience that allows you to explore a piece of New Mombasa never before seen,” the description reads. “As an ODST, you can explore and find the narrative behind the environment, or just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. It is your choice! Put on some headphones, sit back and enjoy an immersive experience through a reimagination of one of the best settings in video game history!”

While there’s no combat included in the demo, there’s apparently a bunch of hidden items dotted around for you to collect as you experience the story. It’s certainly worth half an hour of any Halo fan’s time, anyway, so be sure to give it a go if you’re interested - you can download it from the dev’s Itch.io page, here

If you can’t get enough of Halo in Unreal Engine 5, you might also want to check out The Zeta Halo Experience, which is a fully explorable level which you can download and play through yourself. The creator, Infinite Forges, said: “The story behind the level [is that] in an undisclosed location on Zeta Halo, Chief has been sent to search the ring spine now visible due to the ring's destruction, in hopes of discovering [more] about this ancient alien tech.” You can download Zeta Halo right here.
