Halo Co-Creator Has Harsh Words For The Paramount TV Series

Regardless of whether you’ve actually seen Paramount’s Halo TV series, you’ve likely heard a thing or two about it. Do you remember the good ol’ days when we simply wondered whether Master Chief would take his helmet off? He’s taken a heck of a lot more off since then.

Master Chief sent the internet into a downward spiral when he unveiled his derrière back in episode three. Master Cheeks was soon born and just when we thought that show had peaked, Chief then decided to have sex with a human-turned Covenant spy while Cortana … well, watched. It happened and people had a lot of thoughts - including the franchise’s co-creator.

We had the chance to drive a real Warthog from Halo: Infinite. Take a look at the incredible footage below.

Marcus Lehto recently spoke out about the Halo TV series on Twitter. A fan had asked Lehto who he thought the show was made for, to which he replied: “I’m not sure where the inspiration for the show comes from now. Not the Halo I made.”

He later explained his thoughts: “For clarity, I never said I didn't like it. It's just so different than the Halo I helped make - like it's a different universe.” He’s not wrong. The Halo TV series doesn’t claim to be canon. While it is rooted in canon lore, the game is set in a newly created Silver Timeline.

Lehto did praise the show’s battle scenes, commenting: “I actually like some of the battle scenes. Cool action and some great VFX. In particular, the plasma hit effects in episode one are spot on.”

The co-creator finished by confirming that he didn’t hate the TV show: “I didn't say I hate the show. Some parts are interesting. Just confused by many of the choices that were made which feel pretty far outside the core fiction I helped create.” Lehto has certainly made a point that most Halo fans will likely agree with. I’d love to see canon Chief’s reaction to his Silver Timeline antics. Sure sounds like quality content to me.
