Henry Cavill Hasn't Given Up On 'Man Of Steel 2'

Henry Cavill is a fully fledged nerd. The actor in his time has played some iconic roles showing just how much he enjoys geek culture, from Geralt of Rivia to the role that shot him to fame, Superman. The actor has a continuing role as the Witcher, but there is a question mark above his role as the Man of Steel following Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Will Cavill get to fly again? That’s up to some studio executives somewhere but the actor is hopeful, and more importantly, ready to take on the Superman mantle if he’s needed.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor spoke in detail about where Superman is in the DC universe and where he’d like to take the character next if he had the opportunity. He says: “There is still a lot of storytelling for me to do as a Superman, and I would absolutely love the opportunity. The killing of Zod gave a reason for the character never to kill again. Superman falling to the ground and screaming afterward - I don’t think that was originally in the script, but I wanted to show the pain he had. I did far more emotional takes they didn’t choose; tears were happening.

“He just killed the last remaining member of his species. That’s the choice he made in that moment, and he’ll never do that again. There’s an opportunity for growth after that, to explore the psyche of Superman as a deep, seemingly invulnerable god-like being but with real feeling on the inside.”

He continues on: “As I always say, ‘The cape is still in the closet.'” Pretty hopeful right? We know that the actor likes to pursue roles he wants, it’s how he got the role of Geralt afterall. But if DC doesn’t want him, there are suggestions that he’d be interested in playing Captain Britain for Marvel instead. And we back that casting.
