Hogwarts Legacy announces another delay

Hogwarts Legacy announces another delay

But it's not all bad news.

Avalanche Software has announced that Hogwarts Legacy will see a second delay to its launch date, however, this is only going to affect some versions of the game.

Nominated for Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards 2022, Hogwarts Legacy is finally offering fans the open-world experience that they have longed for in the magical universe. Still, it is a contentious one, as the developer has specifically stated that it collaborated closely with author J. K. Rowling's team to ensure the RPG is an accurate reflection of her lore for the Harry Potter series.

Take a tour of the Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff common rooms here:

As per the announcement, Hogwarts Legacy will arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 4 April, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version will follow on 25 July, 2023. "The team is looking forward to bringing you the game and we want to deliver the best possible game experience across all platforms," read the Tweet.

The developer reiterated that the new-gen and PC versions of the game will land on the shelves on 10 February, 2023, so we are able to read between the lines and discern that the last-gen versions aren't up to Avalanche Studio's standards yet. Instead of pressing onwards and potentially stopping last-gen players from savouring the game as much as new-gen players, this delay is probably the smartest thing to do. Yes, it's disheartening at the moment, but you'll likely be thankful for it when you can stroll through the halls of the school without clipping through the floor like Nearly Headless Nick.
