Hogwarts Legacy fans delighted with free Harry Potter RPG set after Deathly Hallows

Hogwarts Legacy fans delighted with free Harry Potter RPG set after Deathly Hallows

It's a kind of magic

Hogwarts Legacy fans have found themselves obsessed with a new Harry Potter RPG. And the best part? It's actually completely free.

Harry Potter fans everywhere have a lot of love for Hogwarts Legacy, even if it just doesn't quite stack up against 2023 games like The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, Baldur's Gate 3, and Starfield. By comparison, the Wizarding World RPG is a touch empty. Fortunately, a new Potter game feels much more full of life.

Take a look below!

You may have already heard of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, since it's really resonated with fans. While not a traditional AAA release, there's plenty to love. It’s a MMO collectible card wizard duelling game with strategy RPG elements. What a mouthful.

Unlike Hogwarts Legacy, which is set 100 years before the events of the main Harry Potter series, Magic Awakened takes place 10 years after the Battle of Hogwarts as seen inThe Deathly Hallows, so expected to see plenty of familiar faces. Just not Fred Weasley.

Magic Awakened sees players will take on the role of a first year student, which you can customise to be completely unique.

“Your journey to master the magic starts here! You are invited to attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” the game’s official synopsis reads. “Duel in thrilling multiplayer, real-time matches. Browse the dazzling shops of Diagon Alley, solve mysteries as you roam the school halls, show off your moves at the Dance Club, explore the Forbidden Forest, and more in this new card collection and role-playing game!”

The game is largely winning the approval of Potter fans, who praise the game's story and depth but warn of its gacha mechanics. This is a free-to-play mobile game based on a hit franchise, of course, so anyone going in expecting zero microtransactions probably banged their head on something.

Magic Awakened is available to play solely on mobile devices - it can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store right now, totally free.
