'Hogwarts Legacy' Gameplay Leak Details Huge Open World, Dungeons, And More

This sounds like everything I've ever wanted

2022 has seen the Hogwarts Legacy rumour mill kick into overdrive. In the last two months alone, we've had reports of delays, release dates, and upcoming gameplay trailers. Clearly, something is coming.

That's just as well. We haven't seen anything official from the Harry Potter RPG outside of one brief trailer released back in 2020, and it's obvious that the fans are getting hungry for more information.

According to Twitter user AccountNGT, who previously leaked Star Wars: Eclipse and shot down the Hogwarts Legacy delay rumours before Warner Bros. officially responded to them, a gameplay trailer is coming soon. Most likely as part of an upcoming PlayStation event, either this month or at some point in March.

While it's unclear if the rumoured September release date will be confirmed in this trailer, the leaker seems pretty confident that we'll get a good look at Hogwarts Legacy in action for the first time.

Off the back of these claims, a YouTuber by the name of RetroRaconteur is alleging that they've been approached by an multiple insiders with a number of in-depth gameplay details outlining some of the features we can expect to see in Hogwarts Legacy.

My advice to you is to take the following details with a massive pinch of salt for now. RetroRaconteur claims to have been provided photographic evidence that supports these leaks, but he doesn't actually share that evidence with the viewers.

What he does share is a number of intriguing details about the open world and level design of Hogwarts Legacy. Details that certainly sound just about believable.

The YouTuber says they were told that Hogwarts Legacy is a large open world made up of multiple regions and towns, including areas like Hogwarts (obviously), the nearby wizard village of Hogsmeade, and Diagon Alley. The game's reveal trailer certainly seemed to suggest most of these areas would factor in, of course, so this isn't too absurd a claim.

The design of open world has, apparently, been heavily inspired by Ghost Of Tsushima and The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, in that there's more of a focus on letting the player explore organically rather than push them all over the place with intrusive waypoints. RetroRaconteur also claims enemy "camps" are a big part of the game, and that Hogwarts will be home to plenty of hidden dungeons for players to explore.

Finally, it's believed that Hogwarts Legacy will allow players to form relationships with specific NPCs being able to come along for the ride as companions.

While most of this certainly sounds just about vague enough to be true, I'll once again advise you to keep your expectations in check until we see something official. With that September release date looking more and more likely, it's hopefully only a matter of time before we see Hogwarts Legacy in action once again.
