Per the latest gameplay showcase, Hogwarts Legacy has revealed that players will be able to murder students for sport if they pre-order the Deluxe or Collector's edition of the upcoming RPG.

This announcement rides off the disheartening news that last-gen players will be waiting a little longer for access to Hogwarts Legacy as developer Avalanche Software aims to "deliver the best possible game experience across all platforms." That best possible game experience appears to align with the magical school's reputation for health and safety which was already torn to ribbons when it allowed giant carnivorous snakes to live in the toilets.

The Dark Arts Battle Arena is one of the three Battle Arenas in the game, though it is only available to those who fork out extra for Hogwarts Legacy. "Fight waves of enemies in this Battle Arena with the Unforgivable Curses," read the pop up about the feature, detailing that Crucio, Imperio, Confringo and Avada Kedavra are the spells on offer. "In addition to their unique and devastating effects, Unforgivable Curses break through all Shield Charms."

Oh, quelle horreur! That's what some might say, those without a good grasp of how unbelievable the Victorian era was and it's a miracle that the human species made it out of that era mostly intact. In the 1800s, if you fell ill, you would be prescribed a course of bloodletting with leeches. Or, had you held on for a little bit longer, you would have benefitted from over the counter heroin for that tickly cough that's been bothering you. Arsenic was common in children's toys, beauty products and even wallpapers - back then, a woman was falsely accused of poisoning her husband when it was actually flakes of the ceiling paint falling into the cups of tea he was drinking.

In short, the murder arena isn't too out of the ordinary for the time that Hogwarts Legacy is set. But won't somebody think of the children? Yeah, their other options were up chimneys or down mines.
