Hogwarts Legacy players agree on the one thing new players need to know

Hogwarts Legacy players have shared a helpful tip for fans that are yet to receive their Hogwarts Acceptance letter.

Hogwarts Legacy was released for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 back in February, and it’s safe to say the wizarding school has been thoroughly ransacked for all it has to offer. Secrets, references, easter eggs and more have been discovered since its release, but many fans are still waiting to set foot onto the school grounds.

Players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch are still waiting for their port of the game to drop, with the Xbox One and PS4 versions dropping tomorrow, on 5 May, with the Nintendo Switch version releasing in July. With many would-be wizards preparing to pick up their wands for the first time, Hogwarts Legacy veterans have come together on Reddit to share some very important information new wizards should know, regarding one of the game’s notoriously confusing puzzles.

User Savy_Spaceman shared a post on Reddit saying “For everyone about to start the game for the first time… It’s not 1-10 it’s 0-9.” If that cryptic warning means nothing to you, chances are you won’t be alone, as it needs a bit of context to make sense. There are several door puzzles within Hogwarts, featuring a sequence of 10 pictures, each with a creature that has some significance to what number it holds in the sequence. For example, there’s a picture of a unicorn, which is one due to its one horn, and there’s also a spider which is eight due to its eight legs, etc. The puzzle involves solving a maths problem using the creature pictures and their corresponding number.

The problem is if you’re not aware of the pattern you’ll likely assume the picture values range from 1-10, which would land you with the wrong answer, the first picture is valued at zero, and the last is valued at nine.

It’s very confusing and has reportedly stumped many unfortunate wizards, but luckily the good folk on Reddit are there to lend a hand to prevent new players from missing out on the goodies hidden behind the doors.
