'Horizon Forbidden West' Finally Shows Base PlayStation 4 Gameplay

We’re now just over a week away from the release of Horizon Forbidden West. Feeling excited? You should be.

While basically all the advertisement for the game has been filmed on the PS5 (because obviously it’s going to look the best on there), recently we got our first look at the game on the PS4 Pro, which looked surprisingly fantastic too. Now, we’ve finally been shown what Forbidden West looks like on the base PS4. And it sure is… there. Take a look for yourself below.

Well, maybe that’s a bit harsh. It’s a short clip, just taking us on a very brief tour of the Shrine Walk, and the environment is still undeniably pretty. But, comparing it to the PS5 and even the PS4 Pro footage, there’s a definite difference in the clarity of the graphics.

That said, it still seems to be running fairly well, so if you’ve not been able to get your hands on the new-gen console yet (you and me both), there’s no reason not to launch yourself into Aloy’s latest adventure when it releases on 18 February.

It’s already been revealed that fans can expect to sink quite a lot of time into Forbidden West when it releases. Apparently, while the base game is about as long as Zero Dawn (around 22 hours), completionists are expected to spend even longer than they did in the first game getting to 100%. Considering that took around 60 hours in the predecessor, yup, it’s going to be a chunky one. Good luck juggling that alongside Dying Light 2’s 500 hour completionist time
