'House Of The Dragon' CGI Goof Has Been Spotted In Episode 3

Like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon has fallen foul of a humorous fail involving the lack of CGI effects applied to King Viserys' hand in the third episode of the show.

I'm sure you'll recall the errant coffee cup that was found in Season 8 of Game of Thrones. Undoubtedly, the caffeine would have helped Daenerys and her armies against the White Walkers in the Battle of Winterfell that occurred in the middle of the night, but it did take us out of the gravitas of the celebrations of their victory. Really though, this was one of the less egregious mistakes of the last season of one of the most culturally significant shows of the past ten years in the West.

Anyway, let's not pour lemon juice into scabbed over papercuts. As aforementioned, House of the Dragon viewers have also spotted a similar gaffe in the newest episode. Spoilers of course follow for the show, so scroll up now to avoid learning about the story before you've had a chance to catch up.

Following a time skip from the events of the second episode, King Viserys is afflicted with an infection after cutting his fingers on the extremely hazardous Iron Throne. He's hiding his two missing fingers with gloves in order to appear strong and robust for the rest of the realm, but in other scenes, you can see the blackened and cracked flesh on the end of his hand.

Or, you would, if the visual effects team had remembered to replace actor Paddy Considine's green gloved fingers with the infected fingers. Voila:

Everyone makes mistakes. It is interesting, though, because the Fire & Blood book from which House of the Dragon draws from says that this unfortunate injury and infection happens towards the end of Viserys' life, and he slices his hand to the bone. This is a minor cut in comparison, but it looks to have much more problematic implications for the rest of the king's reign. We'll have to wait and see if he is able to shake off the affliction as the story progresses.
