Discord Is Now Integrated Into Xbox, Here's How To Get Started

Discord integration is finally here for all Xbox users, here's how to use it.

It’s about time, eh? Back in July, Discord made its first steps towards Xbox integration, when the service rolled out to a select group of users via the Xbox Insider programme. It’s a handy feature, for sure - allowing users to “chat with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls directly from your console.”

While you're here, be sure to take a look at this super satisfying Xbox 360 restoration.

“Planning a few rounds of multiplayer action in Halo Infinite with buddies on both console and PC? Exploring new biomes with your friends in Minecraft? See them already playing a game that supports crossplay? Connect to their voice channel and chat as you all play,” Xbox previously wrote in a blog post.

Anyway, us non-Xbox Insider folks can finally get in on the action, as integration has now been rolled out on all Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles. As confirmed by Xbox, you’ll be able to see who’s in the call and speaking while playing games, and easily switch between Discord’s voice chat and Xbox game chat, so gameplay won’t be disrupted.

Setting it all up is simple - just open the Discord app, and link your account to your Xbox - if you’ve linked the two before, you’ll have to do it again for it to work, and your console will also need to be up-to-date with the August 2022 update. More details on how to link the two can be found here - the instructions vary slightly depending on which platform you’re setting things up on, but it basically all amounts to heading into your settings and then hitting "Connections" or "Link." Happy chatting!
